Holy Eating?
image With the harsh reality that lifestyle diseases have reached pandemic proportions the world over, what can shuls do to educate their congregants to improve their diets and be aware that in so doing they are adhering to the halachic mandate to protect one's life and body. In a conversation with Rabbi Wasserman, Dr. Robert Schwartz, PhD, clinical psychologist and professor at University of Pittsburgh's School of Medicine, introduces his work over the past 25 years, a program for "Holy Eating" which blends Torah wisdom with psychological principles.

Shul Shmooze

Given by Rabbi Chaim Wasserman, SHUL SHMOOZE is a monthly series on program ideas for synagogue leaders to enrich the synagogue calendar.

Rabbi Chaim Wasserman served as the rabbi of Young Israel of Passaic-Clifton, New Jersey for nearly four decades. At the same time, he taught a college accredited course to seniors at Bruriah High School on "The History and Ideology of Zionism" for which he developed a 400-page study manual and sourcebook. Rabbi Wasserman is the founding editor of "The Rabbi's Letter", a professional quarterly for congregational rabbis. He presently resides with his wife, Leah, in Jerusalem.

For questions and comments on this series, please contact Rabbi Wasserman at chaimwasserman@ouradio.org.

Children at the Purim Megillah Reading

As children will be brought to shul for the Megilla reading, how can we balance listening to the megilla with creating a Haman ruckus, enhancing healthy participation of the children, while not taking away from the adult's obligation to hear the megilla reading.
